In response to massive damage to buildings and the serious shortage of schools after the earthquake in Sichuan Province, the government invested in the construction of the campus of Yanmen Central School. This project represents the first semi-permanent school reconstructed after a disaster, putting into use a facility that exceeds pre-earthquake building standards with a design life cycle of 50 years.
Key Project Statistics:
This facility comprises 171 container modules. Most structures are 2 stories tall, covering a total construction area of 3,000 m². The layout includes 22 classrooms (60 m² each) alongside functional rooms for teacher offices, dormitories, and restaurants, meeting the needs of 1,100 students.
Each container module measures 2.8 meters in height, approximately 6 meters in length, and 3 meters in width. The entire project—from selection and design to transportation and assembly—took only three months. On-site assembly of the 171 modules was remarkably completed in just one month.
